“Well, now that we’re over there, I just hope we finish the job quickly and get everyone home safely.” “I didn’t really think this war was a good idea but now that we’re in it, I support our troops and our President.”
This is a load of BS and I wish people would stop saying it. Scoff if you want but the bottom line is: if you are interested in the safety of the troops and/or the people of Iraq, the thing to do is STOP THE WAR THAT SHOULDN’T HAVE BEEN STARTED IN THE FIRST PLACE!
“Oh we can’t do that!” “We can’t quit.” “That would be saying we we’re wrong.” “What would that say to the rest of the world?” “We would never do that.” “That’s idealistic dreaming.”
Yeah, I’ve heard all of that already. That doesn’t change the fact that the quickest way to stop people from dying is to stop killing people. Sounds like I’m stating the obvious, doesn’t it? You’re right. IT’S NOT FUCKING ROCKET SCIENCE! JUST STOP! There’s no law that says we can’t. It’s just wrong-headed thinking and pride that says we can’t.
The opportunity to become the real leaders (somebody who guides or directs others – as opposed to ruling them by force) of the world still exists. I just wish Bush would hurry up and grow a pair for once in his life.
