So this afternoon, my wife, Rebecca, is flipping through the channels. She stops on Dr. Phil and he is trying his best to intimidate two women peace activists. And he’s trying to do it with the same lame arguments that you’ve heard over and over but don’t make any sense.

The first thing he says is that he doesn’t understand how these women can protest the war when we’ve got men and women dying over there. Then in the same breath he goes on to try to justify the war by saying what we’ve got is a problem with the regime not the people of Iraq. Well Phil, I think people have a problem with the Bush regime not the soldiers.

Then he tries to make some point about how those men and women are fighting for the freedom of Iraq, and by extension, our freedom to do things like protest. So he says that, like right now, sometimes you have to fight fire with fire. That’s right Phil, violence begets violence and peace is achieved through peaceful means. Please just listen to yourself.

Anyway, it was lunch time so we had to change the channel.
