Videos Now In QuickTime
When I redesigned this website less than a month ago I started posting my videos in the Flash format. I did this because much of my family uses Windows and I figured they were more likely to have the Flash plugin installed than the QuickTime plugin. Also Flash is a much smaller download if it's not already installed. Well over the last three weeks I've found out that this whole videoblogging thing is getting more and more popular every day. Today there is an article on Wired News about it. The article talks with some of the people that you'll find at videoblogging.info. Anyway, it seems that my videos will be more compatible with rss feeds (or something like that) if I use QuickTime instead. Also, a few days ago, fellow videoblogger Ryanne Hodson was looking for a better way to encode her videos and she came upon 3ivx which I had installed on my computer but never used it. Today I checked it out and was amazed at the results. It produces flawless mp4 video that is fully compatible with QuickTime and it encodes very quickly - approximately 1-2X. So, I reencoded all the videos this morning so they'll use QuickTime instead of the Flash plugin. You probably already have QuickTime on your computer but if not, you can download it here.
