Well, the holidays are over, Dylan is good as new and I just drove 1800 miles to San Francisco. About 1200 miles of that drive (IH 10 from west Texas to just outside LA) was desert.

Lordy, what a long drive. How much time did you give yourself for this trip? I have to admit that as an East Coaster I find the desert super-fascinating. I’m not sure I’d feel that way after 1200 miles of it, though
80 MPH speed limit and it took 4 days? You must have found some darn good saloons along the way. In fainness, I did 1200 miles solo to Florida in 2 days and my body and nerves were shot!
Yeah I was trying to take it easy - only driving about 8 hours a day. I did crazy 20hr driving days when I was 20 but I guess I’m getting old now.
That was a really pretty. I’ve been on that drive in the middle of summer when it is 115 degrees, and it is not fun. I recognized the wind farm as you are approaching San Jose. It is certainly a site to see for those of us who don’t see that anywhere else.
wow - heck of a drive! I wish you all the best in SF and with your new job and hope that you can see your family often enough.
Now I wish I was going throught the American Southwest. I’m gonna pass through again one of these days.
i love this, it’s the stereotypical movie image of long distance american roadtrips. It’s great to see the reality.. the text and your comment responses help take away the mystique (and that’s no bad thing!)
