W-WTF?

W-WTF?

I don’t know what it’s like where you live but here in the heart of Bush country, I still see one or two of these things every time I leave my house. The sad thing is it feels like the main reason they’re so scarce is that everyone got a new car in the last 17 months.
If you’re keeping track, this is my second video (late) for Videoblogging Week 2006. I’ll have to start working on these things before 8 PM.

All presidents do something wrong… they never well be perfect.. and someone will always have problems with the decisions that they make..

  3. Posted April 5, 2006 at 7:58 am | Permalink

Oh, I’m not talking about a failure to be perfect here. I’m talking about someone who has fucked up the world for the forseable future. This goes way beyond making a few mistakes.

    Amazing, isn’t it?

Many of these thoughts have scrolled through my mind as well as I drive down the road here in Maine.

The perception gap is indeed huge.

All of these facts are swimming through my head, but yet there’s no good way to communicate them in any type of persuasive way.

I’ve found that it often comes down to fundamental differences in value systems and worldviews — and those are a lot more resilient to all of these “facts.”

    Thanks for the rage.

    What the f*ck is right.

I cant even begin to type out my anger around this moron.

You however, have said it perfectly. Nice vid!

No, Nick. This is beyond minor disagreements.

    What the Fuck is right!
I think the same thing when I see those stickers.

  8. Posted April 5, 2006 at 3:01 pm | Permalink

There isn’t as much driving going on in NYC because of our crackerjack subway system–fewer cars means fewer bumper stickers. I’m glad I don’t have to face all those damn stickers in the lot every day. It would make me insane.

    WTF, indeed!

That was a great video. I can’t believe that after all this time and all the shit W has pulled, people that I used to think were intelligent and well informed still believe he is so wonderful. The world, however, can be changed by one voice (or person) at a time. So let’s all keep saying an doing whatever we can to get this man out of office. Keep up the good work, Mike.

That’s really good! Fortunately, here in the bumper sticker capital of the U.S. (Berkeley, CA) I don’t have to look at those sitckers. Instead, I see a lot of “drop Bush, not bombs” and “Legalize Freedom” type stickers. You should do a sequel next time you’re in S.F., here’s what you’ll find:

    Berkeley bumper stickers:
    * Focus on your own damn family!
    * More Trees, less Bush!
    * Somewhere in TEXAS there is a ranch missing an ASS!
    * Don’t believe anything until it has been officially denied!
    * Ignore your rights and they will go away!
    … and more

I’ve got to get some of those stickers and start putting over those damn W stickers.

I only see a Bush sticker about once a month here in San Francisco, and the same basic thoughts swirl through my mind followed by, “and they have the balls to drive that in San Francisco?”

    it’s good to make lists
    and say them out loud
people should not forget so easily.
    repeat repeat repeat

Now this is why I visit your website so frequently. Seriously, if I were a Democratic strategist, I would buy this movie and use it for an ad (of course the WTF would have to be a WHAT THE beep?!!!) on television. You know what the really sad thing is? I could probably add at least 30 more things to your verbal rant, and I’m not exaggerating! U G H ! ! !

  15. Posted April 7, 2006 at 7:31 pm | Permalink

i love the fact that you never hold back. you express the frustration so many of us feel. i think its important to talk about this stuff and not go into denial and pretend like its not happening. thanks.

oh yea? here in philly we still have kerry stickers all over, as well as “impeach bush” “bush lies, solders die” “make a difference, vote out bush” and the likes

its really damn annoying now actually

but whatre you gonna do, life goes on, and itll happen again

Michael, I couldnt agree with you more. I hope you dont mind but i wanted to share this with a few of my friends who couldnt open the streaming video on your site due to security restrictions on their work computers so I posted it on YouTube. I also nated to post a link to it from my blog. If you have a problem with me putting it on youtube, let me know and i’ll take it down.

I admire/envy your forthrightness (beyond my soft spot for the topic).

Here in Canada, when a lot of right wing election signs pop-up, it aggravates the middle/left and garnishes more voters. Hopefully every Bush sticker shown prickles someone enough to vote otherwise. :-)

I did a rendition of Peter Finch’s “I’m madder than hell and I’m not gonna take it anymore!” monologue from Netowrk, which, on the subject of the “hypocrisies of our time,” I included “suburban southern males, drowning in their own testosterone, cruising around in their hummers, nevermind that bumper sticker that fraudulently reads Support Our Troops!”

Thanks for that. I’ll think of your video next time I’m stuck in traffic. ;)

Like Bush his followers can’t admit when they are wrong.

Great site, love the design. I thought you might want some feedback from an actual conservative instead of the huzzah’s from your chior.

I was going to put the whole response here, but it got quite long so it is over at one of my blogs, here:

    http://atheistica.blogspot.com/2006/06/w-wtf-response-to-michael-verdi.html

Here’s one of the points rebutted:
And I love how you say this…Huricane KATRINA!! Wow, that is awesome. So an inept Mayor, an inept governor had nothing to do with it. A category 3 (almost 4) hurricane hitting a major US city was something that should be easy to deal with? The largest domestic rescue operation successfully carried out by the coast gaurd was bad or good?…I still can’t believe they re-elected Nagin, bunch of poor decision making people there IMHO. Again, get off the script: http://www.popularmechanics.com/science/earth/2315076.html

    Anyways, cheers to open dialog.
