Maybe this will clarify things a bit - or not.
[Update: Check out this NYT article. Didn't I just say this?]

Hey Michael,
Thank you thank you for the re-take. I showed it to the president of Norwegian Liberal Youth and we love it. We will launch in a few hours. Link from http://www.uv.no . I want aggregation. We need to figure out how to put this on ANT etc. But it will mostly be in Norwegian. Hmm.
Thanks again! You are a great inspiration, Michael!
Raymond
I’ve upped you to my number one respected videoblogger.
Wow. Thanks. I’ll try my best keep it up.
Love it man, I’m inspired. I’ve been thinking of putting together a vlog anarchy retrospective or perhaps a blogumentary on for vlog activism.
Been checking out everyone’s video’s from mefedia today. Rocks.
I AM THE MESSAGE.
fuckin A right my friend.
This is a message from the future.
You made this a month before I even started posting video on a blog.
You don’t even know it while you’re making this - but less than two weeks ago - on February 15, 2005 - a monster hatched. You call what you do ‘videoblogging’, but in 2008 most people know it as YouTube.
In 2005, you’re seeing people’s amazement as they learn what’s possible. In 2008, almost everybody in the world with an internet connection has watched user-generated video online, on YouTube. The major political candidates are not just creating their own videos, they’re responding to other people’s videos in live televised debates.
This shit will blow your mind. It’s bigger than you even thought it would be.
Only… it’s not anarchy. It’s only nominally in the hands of the people. Google bought YouTube for $1.6 billion, and strikes deals with major broadcasters to get YouTube onto traditional television.
The people you’re hanging out with online now, pioneering the future… in 2008, a large number of them have moved on to making web video professionally. Most of them have tiny numbers of subscribers for their own videoblogs, and eschew YouTube for various reasons, despite the fact that that’s where all the viewers are.
‘Videoblogging’ in the public consciousness is people talking into webcams on YouTube. People telling important stories about the things that affect them is called ‘Citizen journalism’. The two are viewed very differently, and are still largely ignored by the majority of the population, who use YouTube solely to watch clips of old TV shows and the kind of clips that used to feature on America’s Funniest Home Videos.
Now we all have the means to make films and have them seen by anybody, anywhere in the world - immediately, and on-demand. Your dream has come true, and then some…
But what are we doing with it?
…oh, and we’re still writing comments in text. And there’s still no flying cars. God dammit.
“…and just wait until videoblogging rocks politics. Right? I mean, can you just imagine the day when whether you get elected or not has nothing to do with how much money you have to saturate the market with media buys, and it has everything to do with how well you can honestly and effectively communicate your plan for making this a better world. Man, I mean, won’t that be the freaking day? … and you bet your ass by 2008 every presidential candidate will have to just tell us straight up what the deal is on their videoblog if they have any hopes of being elected.”
Seems to me the candidate who is winning right now, get this exactly.
Look! It’s the first videoblogging member of Congress. Streaming live, too. http://qik.com/video/112713. What would happen if a 1/3rd of Congress was doing this?
