Well, it’s been a crazy week and half at our house. I put this video together yesterday to quickly sum up how Dylan went from anonymous 11 year old blogger to “The Youngest Videoblogger In The World.” It’s an example of the velocity and sometimes arbitrary nature of media attention. In the end, what I’m excited about is that she’s having fun with videoblogging and has come up with something really wonderful she’d like to do this next year. So watch the video and you’ll see what I’m talking about. And if you’re reading this and somehow didn’t find Dylan’s website first, here are some links.

If Dylan ever makes it to northern Denmark I don’t mind posing for an interview. As long as she doesn’t mind doing the same for me if I ever pass through Texas! :o)
Wow. That’s pretty crazy. It’s weird how things can just become huge on the internet in just a few days. But i suppose it could just depend on who’s linking it.
Thanks for posting this Michael. I love the “behind the scenes” look. I hope Dylan does get to interview people in other countries on her videoblog.
Nice. A future Barbara Walters…
Now Dylan’s job is to teach other kids to videoblog.
for get the adults.
we’re too easliy impressed.

A week or so ago a friend of mine sent me your daughter’s site. I clicked it thinking it was just some flash of some kind about bunnies and beavers making hybrid super animals… or some idiocy like that.
When the page loaded, I went “A blog…? Er, okay.”
He said your daughter was “awesome” and I had to watch her videos. And Michael, she is indeed really kick—awesome.
I can’t really explain it, though. She gives off a warm fuzzy feeling of special through her videos that really have no point intended but to tell others about her day/neopets/record player. She’s far cooler than most people I’ve met. And I’ve only known Dylan’s existance for a week. Now that say something. Especially coming from a sixteen year old saying this about an eleven year old. I’m supposed to be a prick to everyone younger than me.
If you guys ever go vacationing in Florida, a few friends and I would love to meet Dylan and, of course, yourself.

man thats amazing! but for some reason i can only see half of your video, for some reason my computer stops loading the video in the middle at the exact same spot each time.
That was very exciting to watch. Interesting to see the whole process, from before making that first vlog entry untill now.
What I liked the most was that Dylan actually has a goal with her vlogging - and that despite the media mayhem she didnt get an inflated head. At least I didn’t notice

Nice job on that video.
I enjoyed seeing Dylan being interviewed over the telphone like that.
I never saw that before.
Dylan might enjoy reading my mom’s blog, at 79, she’s the oldest blogger on the internet.
oh wow verdi! your daughter’s one of them internet pop icons now, kinda like ellen feiss! ha- now all she needs is some weirdo to make a t-shirt with her face on it!
=P
I just wanted to say thanks to everyone at ABC - Wonbo, Elizabeth, and Roy for seeing something in Dylan. We’ve all had a crazy fun time with all of this. Of course now she wants to travel to other countries and make films about people so I guess I’ll have to pick up a few extra freelance gigs.
Thanks (really),
Michael
Dylan and her Dad deserve our applause for playing and learning and exploring the Internet’s potential together. The power of the media is in the hands of independent, loving, curious young people who will finally get to tell their stories and share their ideas in their own words. Bravo Michael and Dylan. Your pals on Washington Street
Hi, the file seems to be corrupted, I get a 84KB file when I DL it and if I view the original in the browser it breaks after 90% loaded.
Hello, I would first like to say, Your video blog’s are awsome, i have always wanted to get started with video blog’s every since i hard about the, but never knew where to start, I think now that one kid shown that its pretty fun to vidblog, more younger people will start. I am hoping to start soon, as i am only 15 years old. Only thing i have tried is xanga, but now that i have seen this. This is just to cool to pass up.
Dylan, Michael,
that was awesome. My favorite part is when Michael ask Dylan what kind of people she wants to interview and Dylan answers: “any person, I don’t want just people that are interested in the same stuff I am interested…”.
You have to love kid’s wisdom.
Michael, I just saw this today and…. WAO!
It very nice that you made this video telling us the story of how things happened. I had no idea baout it.
Nice that you encourage her to do new and exciting things like videoblogging.
OIne technical quiestion, hoe do you shoot the TV so you don’t have that weird black lines on it? Every time I shoot something on my TV using my camera I get this weird dark reflection insisde the image…. And your shots here are pretty clean.
Anyhow, great video!
I shot that with a Sony Digital 8 camera. It has a slow shutter setting which gives you a clean shot of a TV screen. It makes regular stuff look strange but works for TV.
