Environmentalism

Lately it’s become kind of hip to be green. Rockstars are singing about it, celebrities are driving hybrids and Hollywood is giving out Oscars. This is all good stuff, don’t get me wrong. But one thing that doesn’t seem to get talked much about is vegetarianism. Becoming a vegetarian may just be the one thing an individual can do that has the most positive impact on the environment.

Here’s an article about the U.N. report and here’s the full report.

In Mad Max III they used pigshit to power the town, so I guess the future of these cows is beneath huge cities, where they can shit freely and make people’s lifes brighter (btw my whole country has 300k cows:).

Thank you for posting this! I went veg this year and I was surprised, shocked even, by the environmental impact of factory farming. (Of course, there’s also no denying the straight-out cruelty these animals endure.)

People are so fascinated by green trends right now, but you’re absolutely right = put your green where your mouth is!

    Keep up the straight-shooting!

You make me, a veggie for more then 10 years, feel good in a whole new way. Although I already have green power and gas, only use public transport and a bike, eat biological food and work with an organisation who preserves nature. Reading this back I just realised I’m a freak.

This is why I watch video blogs.

    Thank you Michael.

Great video. Becoming a vegetarian felt like the right thing for me to do thirty one years ago. You have given me that feeling again. Thank you.

Awesome! I became a vegetarian years ago. It wasn’t because of the part about killing animals – plants are alive, too. It was firstly about my own health, but I was pretty keenly aware that there was a huge environmental impact to the kind of farming practices featured in your video. It’s good to see that brought up.

I stopped being a vegetarian when I got married. It seemed too hard to always have to cook separate meals, and my husband is a very committed meat eater. But your video makes me want to go back. Gonna start the process of change again – it’s been time for awhile. Thanks Verdi.

ok … THAT was powerful … it made me throw my half-eaten hamburger in the trash … well, not exactly, but it made me think about it … very nice/convincing video

yeah i fucking hate driving by harris ranch, makes me ill.
i stopped buying meat for the house (not that we did really)
and have been consciously not eating it when we go out.
trying trying, hopefully i will stick to it.
i know it’s bad and i feel guilty when i eat meat.
so i better just stop, right??

now we gotta work on getting you a recycling program in San Antonio
so you’re not throwing everything away damnit!!

Holy shit, that’s a lot of cows. I was a vegetarian for about six years in my teens to mid-20’s(for purely selfish reasons, I might add…long story) until bacon dragged me back. I can go without beef, no problem, but I’m a pork fiend, and that’s no better. Worse, possibly.

I always felt physically better without meat in my diet…but why can’t I cut it out entirely? I’m not certain.

But I will certainly give the matter considerable thought.

Though the video is pretty black and white in it’s demand, “Become a Vegetarian” it doesn’t have to be quite so black and white. If a lot of people made a significant cut in the amount of meat they consumed, that would still have an enormous impact.

when living in TX it was so hard for me to have that diet, but since I’ve lived in NY, all I eat is soy -and in many places, contrary to popular belief, if made properly, soy tastes so much better!
