What’s Up

Quick list of what’s been up for the last two months:
Working for Outhink on SpinXpress 2.0. SpinXpress is cool software for moving files around – makes collaboration via the Internet much easier. Ryanne and I used it with our Freevlog translators and now I’m using it with Alive In Baghdad. Another cool thing about working with Outhink is they like to help support good videoblogging projects (Freevlog, NODE101, Vloggercon, Ourmedia) and so part of my time working for them is to work on Alive in Baghdad – editing and working on distributed production workflows.

I redid the Alive in Baghdad website and I’ve been editing the videos. Check out two that I think are really powerful: On Patrol with Iraqi Neighborhood Watch and Insecurity Breeds Sectarianism in Adhamiya.

I also did a bunch of editing for Amanda Across America (Chuck Olsen did a bunch too). Here are a couple of my favorite ones I worked on: Andy Carvin, Craig Newmark, & Glenn Reynolds.

And now I’m in San Francisco. I got here on Saturday for the Vloggies which turned out to be a lot of fun. Alive in Baghdad cleaned up with like 57 (or maybe 7) awards and a check for $2000 from Intel. There was a cool party afterwards and I got to hang out with lots and lots of vloggers. It was like a mini Vloggercon reunion.

Okay, that’s enough. More videos coming (for real – they’re compressing now) soon.

    Great to get the update, Michael! Good work you are doing for Alive In Baghdad – I hope the site keeps growing. Good to see Jay and Ryanne came alive from Asia, despite the bugs. Looking forward to videos from you all.

    Thanks for posting the video workflow info. It should be very helpful for collaborations I’m taking part in. Make sure you wear your sandals in the shower.

    Sitting at your desk making videos for other people… I can relate!

    Hey look, its Jay and Ryanne. Dang, wish the timing worked out to see them in SF.

    Hey Michael;
    I was wondering what happened to you. I figured you were working on another book or something. Wow! I can’t believe all the stuff your doing. When do you sleep? Have fun in California and look forward to seeing your videos.
