Coldplay

It’s a new video! Believe it or not, Ryanne and I seem to be done with our book. There are still some loose ends to tie up – permissions, corrections, acknowledgements – stuff like that. But now that it’s not taking up 14 hours of my day, it’s back to actually videoblogging instead of just writing about it.
So this video is a little on the long side and unless you’re a Coldplay fan it might be kind of boring, but too bad. Rebecca, the girls and I went to Houston last Saturday night to see Coldplay in concert. It was a Christmas present from my Dad. This was Lauren’s first concert and Dylan’s first “arena” show. Needless to say, the show kicked ass and we all had a great time.
I was suprised to see so many cameras recording the show (it’s been a year since my last concert). Maybe the tide is turning on this one issue. I think it’s a good thing. Think about it – will the videos I’m posting here be traded around by fans instead of them purchasing CDs and DVDs? I can’t imagine that would be the case. If anything, you’d see what a great time we had and probably think, “hey maybe I should go see Coldplay.” So, until I get a letter from the lawyers at Capitol Records, here’s the rest of the concert video that I shot. BTW, this was all shot on my Xacti C5.

I’m not really a Coldplay fan but it seems like a fun concert for those who are. Good job finishing your book. It’ll be on my shelf hopefully soon.

Great job on this new video Michael. I like Coldplay, and now you have sold me on seeing them live. I think your daughters will look back fondly on this event – captured perfectly (including pre-concert nap). Oh, and congrats with the book too!

They always sound excellent live don’t they? Unlike alot of other “bands”. I love coldplay!! Fun video!

Congrats on the finishing–huge accomplishment! Kudos to you both. The show looked like a total blast! Those balloons? Awesome. A picture-perfect concert moment only surpassed by the kids’ gung-ho reaction to the show.

Nothing beats that first big concert. They’ll never forget it, even if later in life their love of Coldplay wanes because the group slides off into cheesy power ballads and over produced movie-soundtrack work…oh, wait. I apologize. I have some unresolved issues with my first big concert being the Bryan Adams “Reckless” tour…

    It WAS a terrific show…

    Thanks again for sharing.

Looks like a great concert. Also, I was inspired by the CC image at the end. I’m going to try to put together something similar for my vlog. Cheers.

That Xacti C5 was on sell in a Best Denki (japanese electronic store) for about 200 bucks…perhaps it was last years model however, the newest one was sitting beside it…I use my panasonic mini cam, however considering picking up an Xacti…it is so small and very discreet…hey, could you hook me up with a link?

ps- I’m getting an xacti HD!

    Hmmm… First big concerts.
My first concert was Fleetwood Mac 1979. My parents took me, we sat in the 12th row. Of course there were no awesome video projections or moving lights. I just remember that they sounded great and that it seemed like everyone was smoking pot.
Anyone else? What was your first concert?

  17. Posted March 4, 2006 at 2:41 pm | Permalink

The very first concert, taken to by my parents, is something I try to block out of my mind: Conway Twitty and Loretta Lynn (late ’70s). How scary is that? First concert without the ‘rents: The Police, Synchronicity Tour, Fall 1983. It was a stadium tour, lots of pot, beer, and mayhem. The Pretenders were a few months later. Ahhh, high school.

My first concert was The Smiths– a teenagers dream show back in the day. I forgot the tickets about a mile from the venue and my mom had to us drive all the way back home angry and in a panic that we would miss it.

    Ahh, those were the days…

Yay! I can’t wait to buy your book, I’ve been looking forward to it since I heard about it.

I really liked those yellow balloons, they were something else.

Maybe a little weird here..I just searched, and got the vedios here..Nice stuff though..

Yeah, these vedios you made are much more interesting than the DVDs…’cuz they look kind of raw, and natural.
