There was a dinner and award ceremony last night to wrap up the NAMAC conference. This is a clip of some of the dancing that went on until about one o’clock in the morning. Earlier in the evening, they gave the award for Outstanding Media Artist to Loni Ding. I confess I’d never heard of her until last night. I was so impressed by all that she’s done; she’s an amazing woman. I hope that one day I’m able to make an impact on the world that’s even half of what she’s had. Click here to watch her acceptance speech (about 17min., 62MB).

Cool vid Michael. Good music choice as well (what is it?).
Yes, Michael, that’s downright groovy. I also want to know what the music is. And speaking of music, I would like to know more about adding music in our vlogvideos in general. I’ve heard about people getting in trouble for using popular music and then I hear some really cool stuff in other videos… are people making their own music? God, I hope not, because then I would be so intimmidated and have to just up with my hands in an I give up kind of way. I just don’t get it. If I use music I bought and own and credit the artist, isn’t that OK? I am so confused.
Actually, I meant, “God, that’s really COOL if people are making their own music, BUT then I would be so intimidated…”
hi michael,
what kind of genre of music is that in the dance video.. so amazing, who is the artist?
zulma
Wow, thanks for the comments on the music. That’s actually something I put together with GarageBand just using some loops that come with it.
As far a using copyrighted music in videoblogs – it’s illegal unless you obtain the rights or it’s “fair use.” What exactly fair use is hard to say. Basically you’d have to go to court to work it out. But who can afford to do that? Nobody. That’s what large corporations count on. This way you’ll self-censor and save them time and money.
I haven’t heard of any videobloggers getting in trouble for using copyrighted music in their videos. But we’ll see. Zadi Diaz used a Green Day song in her video that got written up in the New York Times…
Wow, great edit verdi! This is why you’re the king of groovy.

Cool music, movement, images.
One thing I’ve been doing for music lately is when I go see a friend’s band, then I shoot a little video. Then I can extract the audio from that and use it in my videos. They are happy to get the exposure, I’m happy to have some good music to use, and copyright isn’t a problem.
Nice flow to the video and music. Good work…
oh yeah this video is so fun.
i’m about to be addicted to soundtrack….
